Material Finish

Our Varnished laser plywood has an A-A grade finish, meaning that both sides of the sheet are high quality both isdes with varnished satin look finsh and PE protective film. Note that colours may vary when viewed on different monitors, For exact colour swatches you can purchase sample swatch packs. See sample swatches in the materials list.
Please also note the PE protective film is safe to cut thorgh however when engraving this film should be removed for the best quality finsih. The siface can be masked with paper tape or the surface can be cleaned after cutting and engraving with Methylated spirits or isopropyl alcohol. You may seee a white edge when cutting and engraving. For engraving you can use an oil to reduce any white edge and may fine that paint filling the egrave gives a better outcome with stronger contrast, for cutting is it recommended to cut faster with good air assist to reduce any white edge.

Material structure

Our laser plywoods are designed specifically with laser cutting in mind. The material has an MDF core and is a very popular material in our range, offering structurally rigidity. This veneer ply is great for structural items and large thin signage that will not bow warp or bend. The MDF core is also a solid apprearance and so give to look of a solid wood when laser cut. Our plywood materials are all manufactured with formaldehyde free glue adhesives.

Why use laser ply?

There are many plywoods materials available in the industry, many of which are built for construction and exterior use. These plywoods are manufactured with different types of glue and resin that may be hard to cut, increasing your cutting time, edge charring and chance of laser cutting flame. They also may be manufactured with glue containing formaldehyde. Using out laser ply, you will have a cleaner faster and safer laser cut with lighter cut edge colour.

Technical Info

At Koenig Machinery, we’re committed to providing high-quality acrylic sheets.
Due to the nature of the material and its manufacturing process, please take note of the following:

Surface & Film Appearance:
Some sheets may have minor marks, wrinkles, or imperfections in the protective film or acrylic itself. Grade 2 sheets might show these more noticeably, which is reflected in their pricing.

Protective Film:
Wrinkles in the film can sometimes cause light fogging after laser cutting. This can be easily cleaned with isopropyl alcohol or similar products.

Removing the Protective Film (Acrylic Sheets):
If acrylic sheets have been stored for an extended period, the protective film may adhere more firmly and be harder to remove. This is normal and does not affect the acrylic itself.
To make removal easier, apply gentle, even heat using a heat gun on a low setting or a hair dryer. Warm the film slightly—do not overheat—as this helps soften the adhesive.
If the edge is difficult to lift, press a piece of masking tape or packing tape firmly onto a corner of the film and pull back slowly to lift the edge. Rolling the film back over itself rather than pulling straight up can also help.
For stubborn areas, a wooden dowel, plastic scraper, or rounded tool can be used to gently tease up the edge without scratching the acrylic surface.
Once started, peel the film off slowly and evenly to reduce tearing. If residue remains, it can usually be removed with a mild cleaner or isopropyl alcohol suitable for acrylic.

Storage & Care:
Always store acrylic sheets flat and away from heat or direct sunlight to prevent warping or damage to the protective film.

Sheet Sizes:
Actual sheet sizes may be slightly larger than listed (for example, 1200 × 900 mm might measure 1220 × 905 mm). This can actually make cutting easier. The 300 × 200 mm option is always cut to the exact size.

Thickness is subject to tolerance +/- 10%
Sheet size is subject to cutting tolerance +/- 5mm
Shipping is generally more economical in smaller sized sheets, up to 22kg in weight.

To calculate approximate acrylic sheet weight use the following formula:
Weight (kg) = Width (m) × Length (m) × Thickness (mm) × 1.19

For example, the following is the weight estimate per sheet:
3mm Thick Acrylic 200 × 300 mm = 215 g
3mm Thick Acrylic 300 × 600 mm = 643 g
3mm Thick Acrylic 600 × 600 mm = 1.28 kg
3mm Thick Acrylic 600 × 900 mm = 1.93 kg

Colour Variations:
We do our best to represent colours as accurately as possible. However, colours displayed on screens are shown using RGB light (red, green, blue), which can vary between devices depending on screen type, brightness, and colour settings.
In the real world, colours are viewed under natural or artificial lighting and on physical materials, which can result in slight variations from what you see on your screen.
For the most accurate real-world representation, we recommend purchasing a swatch pack before ordering, rather than relying solely on online images.

Cutting Safety:
Always ensure proper ventilation and fume extraction when cutting acrylic.
