Koenig Machinery Pty Ltd ABN 93 167 018 117 (Koenig) warrants that each individual item of goods purchased directly from Koenig, where:
(a) the total invoiced purchase price for that individual item (as a separate line item on the applicable invoice) exceeds $40,000 AUD (excluding GST, delivery, training and installation costs); and
(b) the item is not a linishing machine (regardless of the price of the item),
(each a Large Machine), is free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and maintenance for 3 years from the date of delivery (Warranty Period). No other warranty, express or implied, is given with respect to Large Machines.
This warranty is provided to the original purchaser of the Large Machines (Customer) in addition to the Customer’s rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
During the Warranty Period, Koenig will, at its option, repair or replace any defective part or product at no charge to the Customer, subject to the terms below. This warranty covers all components of the Large Machine, except for those expressly excluded under paragraph 1. If a component carries a manufacturer’s warranty longer than 3 years, Koenig will honour that extended period (only as confirmed in writing at the time of sale). Repairs or replacements under this warranty do not extend the Warranty Period; they are covered only for the remainder of the original 3 years, unless otherwise required by law. Any request made by the Customer for repair, replacement, or service under this policy is referred to as a Warranty Claim.
1. Warranty Exclusions
The warranty does not apply in the following circumstances (each an Exclusion):
(a) Consumables and Wear Items: The warranty does not cover consumable parts or components that are subject to normal wear and tear. These items require periodic replacement during the regular operation of the Large Machine. Consumables and wear items include, but are not limited to:
(i) Machine consumables (including water, oil, hydraulic oil, table knives, filters and air filters)
(ii) Laser replaceable consumables (including lenses, o-rings, mirrors, protective windows, nozzles and ceramic rings);
(iii) Finishing abrasive elements (including abrasive belts, brush rollers, abrasive rollers, and conveyor belts);
(iv) Fiber Laser Sources (see specific warranty periods inset below);
(v) Laser Heads (see specific warranty periods inset below);
(vi) CO₂ laser tubes and Co2 Laser power supply (see specific warranty periods inset below);
(vii) Motion system belts (X, Y, and Z axes) (see specific warranty period inset below); and
(viii) other similar components subject to degradation through normal use.
These items are expressly excluded from warranty coverage beyond their expected usable life.
The warranty periods for Fiber Laser Sources are as follows:
(i) 6kW and below: 24 Months from the date of delivery.
(ii) Greater than 6kW: 36 Months from the date of delivery.
The warranty periods for Laser Heads are as follows:
(i) 6kW and below: 24 Months from the date of delivery.
(ii) Greater than 6kW: 36 Months from the date of delivery.
The warranty periods for CO₂ laser tubes are as follows:
(i) 40–60W tubes: 6 months from the date of delivery; and
(ii) 80–150W tubes: 9 months from the date of delivery.
The maximum expected lifetime of a CO₂ laser tube is 10,000 hours. This is a maximum threshold only and does not represent an average or guaranteed operational life. Koenig makes no representation that any tube will achieve this maximum under all conditions.
The warranty period for Motion System Belts is 6 months from the date of delivery.
(b) Misuse, Neglect or Improper Use: Any damage or defect resulting from use of the Large Machine in a manner inconsistent with its intended purpose or from failure to maintain the Large Machine in accordance with Koenig’s prescribed standards and instructions per the operating manual specific to the make and model of Large Machine available from the Koenig website. Examples of misuse or neglect include, but are not limited to, operating the machine outside of Koenig’s specified guidelines, ignoring operating instructions or safety precautions, lack of reasonable maintenance or cleanliness, and leaving the Large Machine unattended during operation. Koenig disclaims liability for any damage, including fire or other hazards, arising from unattended operation, even where a machine fault may be involved, as the presence of a trained operator is required to monitor and respond to such risks.
(c) Unauthorised Modifications or Repairs: Any alteration, modification, or repair of the Large Machine by any person or entity other than Koenig or its authorised service providers, without Koenig’s prior written consent. This includes, without limitation, installation of non-genuine parts or accessories, tampering with safety features, or unauthorised software or firmware changes. Where third-party parts or consumables are used and directly cause damage to the Large Machine, the warranty will not apply to the affected components or resulting issues.
(d) External Factors: Damage caused by external factors not related to a manufacturing defect. Such factors include, but are not limited to power surges or incorrect electrical supply; environmental conditions like water damage, corrosion, or extreme temperatures; infestation by pests; accidental damage, impacts or falls; vandalism or theft; and natural disasters. Additionally, if the Large Machine is installed or operated in an unsuitable environment, such as without adequate ventilation, on an unstable surface, or in conditions contrary to Koenig’s specifications, any resulting damage is excluded from warranty coverage.
(e) Relocation Outside Australia: The Large Machines are designed and intended for use within Australia. If the Customer intends to relocate or operate a Large Machine outside Australia, the Customer must notify Koenig in writing prior to such relocation or use. Koenig will not unreasonably withhold or delay its written confirmation as to whether the warranty will continue to apply in the proposed location.
Environmental, electrical, and other operating conditions in overseas jurisdictions may differ from those for which the Large Machines are designed and tested, and may adversely affect performance, safety, or durability.
In the absence of such prior written confirmation from Koenig, the warranty will not extend to any defect, damage, or failure arising from or connected with the relocation or overseas use of the Large Machine.
If Koenig determines that a Warranty Claim arises from any Exclusion, it will notify the Customer. Koenig may offer to repair or service the Large Machine or affected parts at the Customer’s cost.
2. Customer Obligations and Maintenance
Customers will not be eligible for warranty coverage, unless they comply with the following obligations throughout the Warranty Period:

Any site preparation or environmental controls specified by Koenig must be completed and maintained by the Customer.
(d) Maintenance: Carry out all routine and preventative maintenance as recommended by Koenig, including but not limited to cleaning, lubrication, calibration, and timely replacement of consumables. Maintenance records should be kept and made available upon request to support any Warranty Claim.
(e) Prompt Reporting: Immediately cease use of the Large Machine upon identifying any defect or malfunction. The Customer must notify Koenig and submit a Warranty Claim within seven (7) days of discovering the issue.
(f) Cooperation: Actively cooperate with Koenig’s support and service personnel during the diagnosis and resolution of any Warranty Claim. This includes providing accurate information, performing basic troubleshooting steps as instructed, and granting reasonable access to the Large Machine for inspection or repair. Where required, the Customer must facilitate the return or shipment of the Large Machine or its components to Koenig or an authorised service provider. Failure to follow reasonable instructions may affect the outcome of the Warranty Claim.
