How It Works?

A Fiber Laser Cutter uses a solid-state fiber laser source to generate a highly focused laser beam, which is transmitted through a fiber-optic cable to the cutting head. The beam is precisely focused by a lens onto the surface of the material, where the focused intensity of the laser beam creates a clean, accurate cut by melting or vaporising the metal.

Advanced control systems regulate laser power, pulse width, frequency, and assist-gas pressure, ensuring consistent cutting parameters applied to a wide range of metals, including steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass, and copper.

Why You Need a Fiber Laser?

At Koenig Machinery, we help businesses improve production efficiency and maximise their return on investment (ROI). Fiber laser technology, combined with the technical knowledge of our specialist team, supports manufacturers in delivering efficient, reliable results while ensuring ease of use across daily operations.

Backed by ongoing local technical support, our solutions are designed to help you achieve your manufacturing objectives with confidence.

Unbeatable Advantages

Fiber Laser cutting technology is industry-leading in its reliability, efficiency, and price point, making it an accessible and practical solution for a wide range of manufacturing environments. Designed for consistent performance, fiber lasers deliver dependable results across everyday production tasks.

Owning a Fiber Laser delivers clear financial benefits, including increased production capacity, lower labour and maintenance requirements, and reduced material wastage — helping manufacturers improve efficiency while controlling operating costs.

Increased Production Capacity

Fiber Lasers deliver faster processing speeds and higher precision compared to traditional CO2 lasers, plasma cutters, and CNC cutting machines. This makes them a highly effective solution for modern metal fabrication and production environments.

While some other cutting machines have their advantages for certain applications, the range and quality of fiber laser solutions gives them an overall edge in most scenarios, particularly where speed, accuracy, and repeatable results are critical.

Cutting Capability

The versatility and power of Fiber Laser technology allow it to be utilised across a wide range of material types and cutting thicknesses, while still delivering reduced pierce times and superior cutting kerf.

These characteristics provide a clear advantage over traditional plasma cutting and CNC machining methods, particularly in applications where speed, accuracy, and cut quality are critical.

Superior Precision and Quality

Fiber Lasers produce highly accurate and intricate cuts with tight tolerances, making them ideal for complex shapes, fine details, and small features. The reduced heat output during operation minimises warping and heat stress, helping maintain the quality and integrity of finished components.

These benefits contribute to lower labour requirements and reduced material wastage, improving overall production efficiency. Our Koenig Technicians work closely with your operator(s) to programme the correct cutting parameters during installation, ensuring you realise the full benefits of your Koenig Fiber Laser from day one.

Cost Savings

Fiber laser cutting produces a cleaner, smoother, burr free result compared to other processes, reducing your secondary finishing requirements, lowering labour requirements and minimising wastage. From an operational perspective, Fiber lasers have much lower maintenance requirements compared to plasma and older Co2 machines. With the use of high pressure compressed Air these ongoing input costs are reduced further.

Considerations when purchasing a Fiber Laser

Our team has compiled important factors you should consider when purchasing a fiber laser machine.

Material Considerations

Consider the material type and thickness you are going to cut when buying a fiber laser.

Bed Size

Consider the size of the materials you will be cutting.

Laser Power

Pick the power of your laser based upon the applications it will be used for.

Laser source

We have 3 laser source options, the MAX, Raycus and IPG source. The IPG is capable of cutting Aluminium brass copper and non-ferrous metals. The same goes for the MAX in 3kW or 6kW and above, and the Raycus in 6kW and above.

Speed

With a larger motor set your machine will be able to accelerate and move faster. Keep this in mind when looking at higher powered machines if you plan to cut thinner metal stock!

Service and Support

Consider the manufacturer’s level of service and support such as warranty, and repair services.
